We woke up to another overcast day. It looked like storms could break out at any moment. So we decided to head 25 minutes north to Fort Collins. We've visited Colorado State University but somehow we missed a lot of the cool stuff the city has to offer.. This beautiful place is Lambspun, one of the world's great yarn stores.

Lambspun and its owner Shirley Ellsworth are the models and inspiration for a wonderful series of mystery novels by best-selling author Maggie Sefton. I bought a lot of incredible yarn at Lambspun as well as two of the books.
I admit that I have a serious addiction to beautiful yarn., I'm a kniitter but I also use yarn for projects I call Auras. To make them, I knit wire containing fairy lights and weave yarn, ribbon, beads and other materials into the wire structure. The Auras hang from aspen branches that I collect from the woods behind our house. Some of the incredible yarn I bought today at Lambspun will be used for new Auras. I can't wait to get started! A few of my favorites are below:
Yarn shopping is hungry work so we stopped for lunch at The Exchange in Old Town Fort Collins. It's a very cool plaza where food and drinks are served from shipping containers, traditional restaurants and even an oversize ice cream churn. We chose Columbian food from Yellow Crunch. The arepas and plantains were fantastic.

With full bellies and a huge bag full of yarn, we headed back toward Rhoda and Boyd State Park. Our dear friends Dan & Nicole who live in nearby Longmont were coming to meet us at the campground for supper.. Nicole, a food writer and blogger (www.thespicetrain.com) brought braised beef tacos and all the fixings.

We had a lovely evening complete with, berry pie a la mode and a spectacular sunset. Days don't get much better than this one On The Rhoda. .
