Picking Up The Pieces

May 29, Newport, OR

The sun rose in Corvalis to a world without our Enzo. It was raining as if Mother Nature was sharing our grief. It was so hard to pack up and leave a big piece of our hearts behind but my heart knew Enzo was gone and we had to keep moving. Cousin Marj had been with us taking care of Gizmo and Rhoda, who was parked behind the vet school's barns along with the horse and cow trailers. While Enzo was undergoing tests, we moved Rhoda to a nearby campground where Gizmo could relax in familiar surroundings. Marj took a bus to Newport, the next stop on our itinerary.

So we packed up and headed to Newport to meet Marj. It felt good to see the ocean again. Since the weather was crappy and we all could use a lift, I. booked a glass blowing class for the three of us. It was something that always fascinated Jamie and me and there was a place in Newport that offered classes for beginners. We had a blast. I made a heart shaped paperweight, Jamie made a paperweight that looked as if there was a tornado inside and Marj made a bowl. They had to cool overnight so we'll see the finished projects tomorrow

After a long day, we took Marj back to the place she was renting in right by Newport harbor. She had a prime view of the harbor and the Yaquina Bay Bridge. Our campground is on the other side so we pulled Rhoda over that crazy bridge. My eyes were squeezed shut the entire time but fortunately it was a breeze for Jamie..

After a lovely dinner of super fresh local seafood, we drove Marj back across the bridge and then to our campsite. Good night from our crew On The Rhoda
So sorry for your loss of Enzo!
