Wyoming Sucks...Except The Far Northwest Corner

We woke up early in Wellington, CO to a calm wind-gust free morning. When towing Rhoda we try to limit our drive to 5ish hours. We were supposed to spend tonight at the Great Salt Lake State Park in a campsite right on the water, but the 7+ hour trip would have been too long. And we had to drive through the entire state of Wyoming, one of my least favorite places.

I have a love/hate relationship with The Cowboy State. The Grand Tetons and part of Yellowstone in the northwest corner of Wyoming are among the most beautiful places on earth. The remaining 90% of the state is ugly: scrubland, mining operations, oil drilling, refining and storage. Interstate 80 runs through southern Wyoming and like yesterday, often closes due to extreme winds. So driving through southern Wyoming sucks!
Today, we got lucky; the winds were quiet and we skirted some serious-looking thunderstorms. We stopped for the night at a lovely campground in Coalville, UT.

Tomorrow we drive 6 hours to Winnemucca, NV. That will put us back on schedule to get to Lassen Volcano National Park on Monday. Good night and sweet dreams from our crew...on the Rhoda.
